‘A Humument’ is an altered book, in which Tom Phillips (British Artist) drew, painted and collaged over the pages of W H Mallock’s novel ‘A Human Document’, leaving only some of the original text to show through in his form of erasure. Through this process, a new story was formed with a new protagonist named Bill Toge. A nonlinear narrative of suggestive poetic sentences and colourful pages are left as the art work.

We were inspired by this work's approach to storytelling and used Phillips’ method of alteration to create our own collective story during a 1.5 hour workshop. The results of our compiled pages are shown below.
